FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS FROM THE AREA OF MOSTAR

As part of the activities of the project “COMMHERITOUR – Community-based models for the sustainable valorisation of cultural heritage crafts to enhance economic and tourism performance of remote areas of the Danube Region”, supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme co-funded by the European Union, and on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the existence and work of the Museum of Herzegovina Mostar and the International Museum Day, the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the Museum of Herzegovina Mostar are announcing a COMPETITION for primary and secondary school students, on the topic “Old crafts”.

Prizes will be awarded in two selections: art works for elementary school students and literary works for high school students. In both selections, the expert commission will award three cash prizes. The deadline for submitting works is May 11, 2025. You can see the text of the competition with detailed information in the attachment.

The HNCTourist Board is an active partner in the COMMHERITOUR project, which aims to maximize the contribution of crafts and cultural heritage to the economy through tourism in a sustainable way. This year’s International Museum Day, May 11, 2025, is related to intangible heritage with the theme: The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities. This theme underscores the critical conversations ahead—exploring how museums can safeguard intangible heritage, harness the energy of youth, and adapt to new technological frontiers. As the COMMHERITOUR project also deals with intangible heritage, the idea of cooperation between the Museum of Herzegovina Mostar and the HNC Tourist Board was born to organize a competition for students to raise awareness of the importance of craft heritage and its potential in the local community.

The Tourist Board HNC and the Museum of Herzegovina Mostar will continue their joint cooperation with the aim of promoting cultural heritage, with a special emphasis on the preservation and highlighting of craft traditions, and strive to bring the richness of our tradition closer to the local community and visitors and thus contribute to the preservation and promotion of the identity of the region.

The COMMHERITOUR project is supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme co-funded by the European Union.
